A NIGHT TO REMEMBER AT PICTUREHOUSE CENTRAL.

Last night at Picturehouse Central, presenting 'Beneath a Mother's Feet' as part of the 2POCC Film Club event really felt like a full-circle moment. Seeing our film alongside those of other talented filmmakers left me both humbled and inspired.

Sharing the stage during the Q&A session with Riffy Ahmed took me back to the beginnings of my journey as a filmmaker. I had participated in my first film development programme led by British-Palestinian filmmaker, Saeed Taji Farouky. It was in that setting I joined the same cohort as Arij, who would later become my producer, and Riffy, with whom I now shared the stage. To share this moment, with Saeed and Arij watching from the audience, really underscored the invaluable support and camaraderie we've shared.

Having Will Hanke, my DOP, and Nisrine Adam, who brought to life the character of Wedad with such empathy, there to watch our our film together for the first, made me reflect on the incredible dedication and passion each of us has poured into this project.

Filmmaking is fundamentally a collaborative effort. I am so proud of our work and fully aware that without everyone’s contribution, it wouldn’t have achieved what it has.
